Employer Testimonials
Parmiter’s secondary school, based in Hertfordshire has been a role model for employing PE Teaching Assistants in their Hertfordshire Secondary School over the past five years. By welcoming apprentices into their PE department the school has been able to offer an enhanced physical education programme, both in the curriculum and in their extracurricular activities.
By role-modelling apprentices working in their school, the school in turn promotes a positive attitude toward alternative career pathways. Under the guidance of experienced staff, apprentices bring fresh energy, enthusiasm, and a contemporary perspective to PE classes and support the departments aim to enthuse students to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
For example, the school is currently benefiting from the expertise of an Old Parmiterian as their apprentice. Having once been a student himself, he is embracing the opportunity to excel, all while imparting knowledge and making positive contributions to the students of the school.
From a strategic perspective, employing a PE Teaching Assistant Apprentice is a cost-effective investment. The additional support has allowed Parmiter’s School to cater to the individual needs of students, ensuring a more inclusive and personalised approach to their physical education provision.
“As the Director of Sport at Parmiter’s School I am delighted to share the outstanding positive impact of employing PE Teaching Assistant Apprentices has had on our school community.
Not only has the apprentice provided valuable support to our teachers, assisting in the implementation of engaging and effective lessons, but they have also played a pivotal role in promoting physical activity and well-being among our students. Their passion for encouraging an active lifestyle has resonated with our young learners, creating an environment where physical activity is not just a routine but a lifestyle.
The apprentice’s presence has not only expanded our capacity to offer a diverse range of sports activities but has also contributed significantly to the personal development of students. Their role as a positive role model has inspired many, fostering a sense of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance among our pupils.
We are immensely grateful for the partnership with Educational and Sporting Futures and the continuing support we receive throughout the apprenticeship programmes. It’s heartening to witness the growth and development of both our students and our past and present apprentices.
I highly recommend the PE Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, not only does it enrich the learning experience but also cultivates a positive and dynamic atmosphere within the school. Our apprentice has become an integral part of our educational journey, and we look forward to witnessing their continued positive influence.”
We are proud of our thriving school sports provision, which has grown since we have employed our PE apprentices. Our apprentices have always been positive role models for our pupils to lead healthy active lifestyles and embrace many different sports activities.
As our apprentices have grown in confidence, they have been able to take on more responsibilities. Our class teachers have enjoyed being able to work alongside the apprentices to lead a range of PE and sports activities, from, trampolining, to football including school sports days.
Through the robust training apprentices receive through the knowledge and experience from their tutors, they have provided valuable support for both our pupils and class teachers. They have even led whole staff training to develop their colleague’s confidence when delivering PE!
Our PE apprentices have also taken the lead on our sports clubs both during and after school. They have enabled us to create a broad and balanced extra-curricular programme, which is open to all pupils and creates many opportunities for them to participate.
Seeing the enjoyment and enthusiasm of our pupils since having a PE apprentice has been extremely rewarding. Educational and Sporting Futures are always on hand when supporting our apprentices, throughout their training. I would highly recommend hiring an apprentice to any school.
We used our Apprenticeship Levy to fully fund the specialist training our apprentices receive from Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ Training provider.
