Learning Skills Assessor Apprenticeship – Primary Setting

The Learning and skills assessor apprentice training will provide you with the knowledge and skills to learn how to effectively use Educational Psychometric Testing to assess the progress of students and identify appropriate support strategies.

Educational Psychometric Testing can be used effectively to deliver the best quality education to:

  • Meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Assess a student’s strengths and weaknesses.
  • Help to make informed decisions about a student’s learning
  • Measure a student’s cognitive abilities, personality traits and interests
  • Learn more about a student’s learning style and needs

Being equipped with the knowledge to understand the educational testing and assessment processes, will provide valuable knowledge to adapt teaching methods to ensure students achieve their full potential.

The Learning and Skills Assessor apprenticeship is suitable for experienced Teaching Assistants and HLTA’s, who are seeking to develop specialist knowledge and skills in educational testing and assessment.

As a Learning and Skills Assessor you will be able to provide valuable support for the SENCO, by evaluating the learning needs of pupils to develop programmes for students in school using a range of assessment methods.

This is an invaluable skill that can help you advance your career and will provide you with a recognised qualification that demonstrates your competence and expertise in the field of learning and development.

What are the entry requirements

Although it is an open access qualification, an apprentice would typically be expected to have already achieved GCSE Maths and English, Grade C or above or 4/5. Some elements of this apprenticeship do require a reasonably high level of ability for English and Maths.

How you will be assessed?

Guidance will be provided at every step during your learning journey to ensure you know what is expected of you. Over the course of the apprenticeship, you will complete a series of projects and activities which will form your portfolio of evidence for submission as part of your End Point Assessment (EPA).

All apprentices that successfully complete the Learning and Skills Assessor Apprenticeship will receive a Certificate awarded by the EPA Organisation. The certificate will be recognised by the DfE and the Institute for Apprenticeships. The assessment will result in either a ‘fail’, ‘pass’ or ‘distinction’.

Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (CCET)

There is an additional fee of £75 + VAT to upgrade the apprenticeship to include Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (CCET).

This applies only to those wishing to study the optional content covering the Theories of intelligence.  You can register your interest for the CCET top-up course when you sign up for the apprenticeship.

With this added option, you will gain the gold standard qualification for the education profession that will help you to understand how assessments using psychometric tests are developed, how to use them effectively, how to interpret results and communicate with parents and outside agencies.

Register your interest.

We accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year.
