Meet Kris | Teaching Assistant
I’ve been working as a Teaching Assistant for 8 years. I was asked by my Head Teacher to do my Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship with Sporting Futures Training in February 2019.
I felt quite apprehensive about going back into the classroom, but very quickly I was put at ease by the tutors as Sporting Futures when I first met them.
They were very helpful, friendly, polite and down to earth and I was quite relaxed with going back into the classroom. Alongside my apprentice, I also did my Maths and English to upskill and gain a higher qualification.
The apprenticeship is a fantastic way to get up to date training. You have the opportunity to meet others on the course at training days, where you get to share experiences, with people who are just getting started in the job and also people like me, who have been doing the job for a while.
I felt fully supported by the tutors at Sporting Futures. We worked at a pace that worked for me and I never felt rushed.
In March 2020 I was ready to do my End Point Assessment and I had all the support I wanted to make sure I was completely ready.
I am so pleased that I did the apprenticeship, even though I had been a Teaching Assistant for eight years. It was extremely helpful and relevant and since passing my qualification, I have felt more confident within my role at school.
I would recommend this apprenticeship to any TA, whether you have been in the job for one year, 5 years or are just starting out, it is a great opportunity if you get chance to do it!
