Jo Pountney
Director of Apprenticeships
Jo’s roots are embedded within teaching and she has over 15 years’ experience in secondary school education. She is committed to supporting the development of the school workforce through utilisation of the apprenticeship levy (now known as the Growth and Skills levy). Led into the apprenticeship world by the needs of school leavers, Jo was one of the founders of Ofsted outstanding ESF Apprenticeships, established in 2011.
She is committed to developing excellent practice across all areas of provision and is proud to have supported over 1,000 teaching assistants in her Directorship role.
Jo has been a member of several apprenticeship trailblazer groups, including most recently the committee spearheading the creation of the Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant. She has also been invited to contribute to many DFE roundtable events. Through her various teaching, leadership and management roles she has used her knowledge and skills as a foundation for driving teams to create and deliver provision that raises aspirations and creates lifechanging opportunities that make an impact in the classroom and beyond.
