Early Years Apprenticeships: Workforce Development
Level 2 - Early Years Practitioner
We can support you in upskilling existing staff or employing a new team members to deliver high-quality training through apprenticeships, to provide support for more pupils including additional support for those with special educational needs.
Educational and Sporting Futures Training can support Early Years settings to upskill or recruit new Early Years Practitioners or Educators to extend the Early Years workforce through Apprenticeships.
Providing increased staffing capacity to support small group intervention and one-to-one support.
Impact of Early Years Practitioners
Training offered to Early Year Practitioners would appeal to those who would like to build upon their experience and knowledge. Learners will be expected to deliver on a number of areas which will have an impact across their setting including:-
- The importance of holistic development including, cognitive, speech, language and communication, physical, emotional and social development.
- An understanding of how to support assessment, planning and provide an enabling environment for babies and young children.
- Understanding of Safeguarding, child protection and promoting the well-being welfare of all babies and young children, including those with additional needs.
- How to work co-operatively with parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals to enhance babies and young children’s learning, enabling them to make progress.
Training offered by Teachers and School Specialists in areas such as :
- Supporting Children with additional and complex needs (Dyslexia / Autism for example)
- Additional member of staff with Paediatric First Aid
Level 2 Early years qualification will be taken.
Level 3 – Early Years Educator
A highly trained professional who plays a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.
A career development opportunity to equip staff with a Level 3 Apprenticeship to take on more responsibilities to plan, organise and lead enriching learning activities
The Early Years Educator Apprenticeship training is a rewarding progression opportunity for aspiring educators who are already working with young children during their early developmental stages and are looking to:-
- Grow and build on their current knowledge and experience
- Take on more responsibilities to plan, organise and lead enriching learning activities
- The Level 3 qualification enables your setting to be counted within the staff:child ratio guidelines in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework settings have to follow.

Develop the specialist skills to provide enhanced care and education to young children
- Additional team member within your school or community setting with a Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Opportunities to network and share good practice through working with Apprentices from other settings
- Training modules that offer content on how to support and manage the needs of those children with complex or challenging emotional needs. (including Dyslexia and Autism)
- Developing Communication styles
- Developing resources to support learning and making an impact
- Enhance capacity for your nursery, pre-school or reception class.

Fund the early years apprenticeship through your Apprenticeship Levy
Utilise the apprenticeship levy to support Early Years settings to develop existing staff. Educational and Sporting Futures Training can develop bespoke programmes designed for your own setting
You can use your Apprenticeship Levy to fully fund training as a CPD budget, meaning there is no cost to your school.
The Government will fund 95% of training costs.
Non-levy organisations
If an organisation is Non-Levy, Educational and Sporting Futures Training will work with you to try and secure a Levy Transfer if possible.
Our apprentices will be based within their schools/community settings
Working 30 hours a week, blended model of training being delivered by specialist tutors from teaching backgrounds.
