Meet Jess
Level 3 Teaching Assistant – PE, Health and Wellbeing Focus

After she left school, Jess went on to attend both Uxbridge College and West Herts College, where she studied a Sports Science. During her spare time, Jess was already a sports coach for West Herts College and playing for a local football team. However, it was whilst she was working full time in a doctor’s surgery that Jess realised that she wanted to combine her love for sport and working with children, to potentially form a career.

Jess’s enthusiasm for sport and the desire to work with children, ensured her successful apprenticeship application and subsequent job offer working in Willow Tree Primary School in Northolt.

How would you describe your apprenticeship journey?

The team is brilliant, you always feel welcomed and supported. There has not been one moment where I’ve questioned if this is the right apprenticeship for me, I love it. My apprenticeship has been the best experience ever, and I’m very grateful to have been given this opportunity.

What are your future aspirations?

Jess aspires to continue with her apprenticeship journey and embark on the Level 4 Sports Coach apprenticeship offered by Educational and Sporting Futures, to provide additional skills to continue her career working with children in a sports or coaching environment.

“Before finding this apprenticeship I dropped out of two colleges and had a really hard time, but this apprenticeship has been the best thing for me and everyone around me has recognised a change in my physical and mental health.”
